Canada eliminated at world mixed championship

BERNE, Switzerland — Canada was eliminated from the world mixed curling championship on Friday after dropping an 8-3 quarter-final decision to Russia.

Skip Max Kirkpatrick of Swift Current, Sask., was tied with Alexey Tselousov after six ends but the Russian skip scored five in the seventh to end the game.

Kirkpatrick, third Jolene Campbell, second Chris Haichert and lead Teejay Haichert opened the day with a 7-4 win over Italy’s Denise Pimpini.

Russia will next play Sweden while China will take on Norway in the other semifinal.

The medal games are set for Sunday.
