Ottawa’s Rachel Homan raises record to 3-0 at Champions Cup

SASKATOON — Rachel Homan’s rink is off to a fast start at the Humpty’s Champions Cup.

The Ottawa team improved to 3-0 with an 8-4 win over Min Ji Kim of South Korea in Thursday afternoon action at the final Grand Slam event of the season.

Winnipeg’s Team Alli Flaxey, with Laura Walker subbing as skip, improved to 2-1 with a 9-7 win over Switzerland’s Elana Stern.

On the men’s side, world championship runner-up Kevin Koe of Calgary was 2-0 after an 8-3 win over Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller.

Toronto’s John Epping also was 2-0 after a 7-6 win over Brad Gushue of St. John’s, N.L.

In the other early afternoon game, Scotland’s Bruce Mouat (2-0) beat Regina’s Matt Dunstone 6-3.

Two more draws were scheduled for Thursday.

The preliminary round wraps up Friday, with the playoffs on Saturday and Sunday.
