The Toronto Argonauts have signed linebacker Bear Woods to a two-year extension.

The 32-year-old Woods is entering his fourth season in Toronto. He re-joined the Argos in late July last season after being cut just before training camp.

Woods played in three games and had a season-high 10 tackles in a Week 13 win over Ottawa.

He has 376 defensive tackles, 15 sacks, three interceptions and six forced fumbles in 64 career CFL games with Montreal and Toronto. Woods was a CFL all-star in 2014 and 2016 while with the Alouettes. He joined the Argos via free agency in 2017 and helped them win the Grey Cup that season.

STAMPS INK CALGARY NATIVE

The Calgary Stampeders have signed defensive back Nick Statz.

The Calgary native was the Stampeders’ sixth-round selection — 55th overall — in the 2019 draft.

Statz attended training camp with the Stampeders in 2019 before returning to the University of Calgary and helping the Dinos capture a Vanier Cup title.
