CFL teams to get new, re-engineered jerseys

In honour of the season that will culminate in the 100th Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League will launch new, re-engineered jerseys for each of its eight teams.

“The 100th Grey Cup will be a celebration of our proud past, and its bright future, at the same time,” CFL commissioner Mark Cohon said in a press release Wednesday. “So while we will mark this historic milestone in many ways, we have also worked with Reebok to re-engineer team jerseys for the way the game is played today — and to help our athletes succeed tomorrow.”

The jerseys will have increased elasticity, improved resiliency and moisture wicking technology. There will be design updates unique to each team, but all the jerseys across the league will have the same technological improvements.

“The on-field jerseys were developed to improve the player experience, while the new (fan) jerseys will bring the fans closer to the game,” said Stewart Clark, marketing director for Reebok Canada. “After a two year process and a close collaboration with the CFL and its teams, Reebok is proud to introduce the new re-engineered jersey.”

Both the official game jerseys and the jerseys designed for fans to wear will be unveiled prior to the start of CFL training camps.

The National Football League also recently introduced a new line of redesigned jerseys for all 32 of its teams.
