SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Chargers have signed Australian-born punter Mat McBriar to replace the injured Mike Scifres.

Scifres broke his left collarbone Sunday night in a 23-14 loss to New England when Brandon Bolden crashed into him after blocking a punt in the second quarter.

The 35-year-old McBriar previously spent time with Denver, Seattle, Dallas, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh during his 12-year career.

The Chargers also re-signed centre Jeff Baca to the practice squad.

The moves were announced on Tuesday.
