It was a strong week for fantasy output with 47 flex options registering at least 10 points and 11 quarterbacks scoring more than 20 in standard scoring leagues.
With that in mind, here’s a quick look at some options to consider on the waiver wire prior to Week 7.
QB
Notable players on bye: Cam Newton, Dak Prescott
Marcus Mariota (60% owned)
We told you to pick Mariota up last week and if you listened, you’re welcome. For the second straight week the Titans’ star threw three touchdowns and was a top-three fantasy quarterback. His next three games are against the Colts, Jags and Chargers. Pick him up—especially if you’ve got Cam Newton on bye or an injured Ben Roethlisberger.
RB
Notable players on bye: Ezekiel Elliott, Jonathan Stewart
Jay Ajayi (30% owned)
Ajayi was the top fantasy running back of the week in the Dolphins’ shocking upset over the Steelers. He put up 202 yards on 25 carries and added two touchdowns. It seems like a bit of an aberration but considering he got all that work with Arian Foster back in the lineup it’s a positive sign. He’s going up against the Bills this week and then on bye but he could help you in a pinch and down the road.
Chris Ivory (43% owned)
Ivory’s health is always going to be a concern for fantasy owners but he has averaged double-digit touches in his last three games and got his first TD of the season in Chicago. This week the Jags host the Raiders, who were just trampled on the ground by the Chiefs.
WR
Notable players on bye: Kelvin Benjamin, Cole Beasley
Cameron Meredith (53% owned)
This is the pickup of the week. Alshon Jeffery has been a consistent producer in terms of receiving yards for the Bears—he currently ranks 10th in the NFL—but Meredith has been a beast two weeks in a row. Since becoming a starter he has caught 20 of 27 targets for 243 yards and a touchdown.
Kenny Britt (13% owned)
Britt’s early success looked like a fluke based on his track record of inconsistency, but the man sits ninth in receiving yards. Case Keenum looked like a legitimate starter against the Lions and Britt was one of the beneficiaries, reeling in 136 yards and two touchdowns.
TE
Notable players on bye: Greg Olsen, Jason Witten
Hunter Henry (34% owned)
How is this rookie not owned in every league? The rising Chargers star has double-digit fantasy points in three straight weeks. Even with Antonio Gates back in the lineup Henry has been the player Philip Rivers can rely on most. San Diego’s Week 7 opponent, the Falcons, give up plenty of points to tight ends.
