CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have announced that starting wide receiver Philly Brown is out for the remainder of the NFC wild-card game against the Arizona Cardinals with a left shoulder injury.

The injury is significant for the Panthers since Brown is the team’s biggest deep threat.

Brown, who stepped in as a late-season starter, was injured while leaping for a pass in the right corner of the end zone in the final minute of the first half. He was helped to the locker room by trainers and did not return in the second half.

The rookie was targeted six times in the first half and caught three passes for 37 yards.
