Dolphins QB Pennington has dislocated shoulder

DAVIE, Fla. — An anonymous source said Monday that Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has a dislocated shoulder.

Pennington underwent tests Monday on his injured right shoulder, and now may seek a second opinion to determine how long he’ll be sidelined, the source added.

The source said Pennington’s shoulder was dislocated Sunday in a 23-13 loss at San Diego, and tests will determine whether there was damage to the rotator cuff. An operation on the shoulder would be Pennington’s third since 2005.

Teammates braced for the likelihood Pennington will miss Sunday’s home game against Buffalo, which would mean the first NFL start for backup Chad Henne.
