Not much has gone right for the Cleveland Browns lately.
Johnny Manziel, the team’s “quarterback of the future,” is in rehab, their best offensive weapon — embattled receiver Josh Gordon — is facing a one-year suspension, and they’ve played in just one post-season game since returning to Cleveland in 1999, and that was 12 years ago.
So to help fans forget all of that misery (and to sell a pile of new merchandise), the Browns are reportedly unveiling a new logo next Tuesday, Feb. 24.
According to Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan, the new logo will replace the orange helmet the team has used since 1970 but won’t include the “Brownie” elf logo from the 1950s and ’60s, and will not be featured on the team’s helmets.
The Browns are also expected to introduce new uniforms in late March or early April.
Cleveland is keeping the new logo under wraps, but the Internet has had some fun with the idea of a new Browns symbol:
