One of the free-agent market’s top quarterbacks appears to be staying put.
Teddy Bridgewater is expected to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater.
With this year’s QB free-agent class relatively underwhelming and Nick Foles already off the market, Bridgewater would have been the top signal-caller available when the new league year kicks off on Wednesday. A new agreement in New Orleans means the 26-year-old isn’t going anywhere.
With Drew Brees in the final stages of his Hall of Fame career, Bridgewater is seen as the heir apparent in the Big Easy.
Selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2014 draft, Bridgewater played two seasons in Minny before a devastating off-season knee injury threatened his career. He missed the entire 2016 season, but was able to work his way back to the Vikings bench, playing in a game in 2017.
Bridgewater signed with the New York Jets last off-season and was then acquired by the Saints after an impressive pre-season.
