ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Free-agent quarterback Dennis Dixon will have a workout with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, a person familiar with Dixon’s plans confirmed to The Associated Press.

The person spoke Saturday on the condition of anonymity because the Bills haven’t announced Dixon’s visit. Dixon was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles in August.

FoxSports.com first reported Dixon’s workout. NFL.com also reported that Pat White, the former Washington and Miami quarterback, worked out for the Bills on Saturday.

The Bills are in need of help at quarterback after rookie EJ Manuel injured his right knee Thursday night in a loss at Cleveland. Manuel has a sprained lateral collateral ligament and is expected to miss several weeks, but will not need surgery. The Bills currently have only one healthy quarterback on their roster, undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel.

Dixon, a former fifth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has played in four NFL games, throwing for 402 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Oregon product also was spent time with the Baltimore Ravens.

White entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2009 and was most recently with the Washington Redskins. He was waived by the Redskins on Sept. 14.

Like Manuel, both Dixon and White are dual-threat QBs who can make plays as both a passer and a runner.

Manuel was off to a good start before suffering his knee injury in the third quarter of Buffalo’s 37-24 loss to the Browns. He has thrown for 985 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions this season.
