The mystery surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and his odd disappearing act during Week 17 of his team’s season deepened Wednesday night.

Ironically, because one unknowing secret involving Brown was solved.

On the new FOX music variety television show The Masked Singer it was revealed that Brown was one of the contestants.

It’s unclear when exactly this episode was taped and it’s entirely possible he did this spot well before the knee injury that kept him out of the Steelers’ season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

With that said, the timing of this episode is rather curious. Wednesday was the show’s series premiere and it just happened to coincide with a lot of drama that Brown helped to stir up that included not only the knee injury, but also the Steelers reportedly opting to bench Brown in Week 17 for failing to show up to team meetings, Brown subsequently requesting a trade, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin implying the star receiver quit on the team and even Steelers teammates not believing Brown was actually hurt for that game with the Bengals.

And now we have this.

The mystery of who the singing Hippo may have been solved, but there’s definitely still a ton of questions left unanswered about the man behind the mask.
