Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll was a man of few words Friday after qualifying 17th for the Qatar Grand Prix.
Asked by Sky Sports F1 what his emotions were following another disappointing qualifying session, Stroll simply said: "Yeah, it's [expletive]."
Followup questions also yielded short responses from the 24-year-old from Montreal.
Stroll sits 10th in the world championship with 47 points but hasn't scored a single point since the Belgium Grand Prix in July. He has yet to finish on the podium this year with his best result being a fourth-place result at the Australian Grand Prix in April.
Meanwhile, teammate Fernando Alonso is fourth in the standings, 127 points ahead of Stroll, and has finished on the podium seven times.
Alonso qualified fourth in Qatar and was more than a second faster than Stroll during the opening session.
Aston Martin, which was second in the constructors' championship at one point, has now slipped to fourth place and could fall behind the surging McLaren team before the season ends.
"The car felt OK, but we just didn't have the pace," Stroll said in a team statement. "We've got another opportunity to go again tomorrow, and learn what we can ahead of the sprint events."
The Qatar Grand Prix features a sprint Saturday with its own qualifying session before Sunday's main event.
