Argentine driver Franco Colapinto has signed a multi-year contract with Alpine, the team announced Thursday.
Colapinto will serve as a reserve driver behind veteran Pierre Gasly and rookie Jack Doohan for the 2025 season.
The 21-year-old made his F1 debut last year, replacing Williams driver Logan Sargeant for the last nine races of the season. Colapinto had been racing in F2 and was sixth in the standings at the time of his promotion.
He finished eighth at the Azerbaijan GP and 10th in the U.S. GP to score a total of five points, however, he did not finish three of the final four races.
Colapinto was left without a ride as Williams already had its lineup locked up for next season with Alex Albon and former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz.
