Tiger Woods will not be competing at the Open Championship next month at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
A spokesman for the event told Sports Illustrated they had been told Woods will not be playing in the fourth and final major tournament of the season.
Woods has won the Open Championship three times including the 2006 event held at Royal Liverpool.
The 47-year-old Woods, who has captured 15 major titles, made the cut at the Masters in April but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
He underwent ankle surgery that forced him to miss last month's PGA Championship plus this weekend's U.S. Open, which is taking place at the Los Angeles Country Club — about 34 miles from where he grew up in Cypress, Calif.
