Canada’s Corey Conners drops back at PGA Championship

It wasn’t Corey Conners’ day at the PGA Championship.

The Canadian, who hails from Listowel, Ont., came in one stroke off the lead and tied for second.

But after his round on Sunday, he dropped nine shots back of the lead, thanks to seven bogeys to go with the two birdies he has on his card on the final day at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y. He finished five-over in his final round.

Fellow Canadian Taylor Pendrith was two-over on the day, in the clubhouse at five-over for the tournament, which had him in a tie for 29th. Adam Hadwin and Adam Swensson both finished at six-over.

The last Canadian to win a major golf championship was Mike Weir, who did it at Augusta in 2003.
