Canadian Pacific Kansas City extends sponsorship of LPGA’s Canadian Women’s Open

13-time LPGA Tour winner Brooke Henderson speaks to Adam Stanley about heading to Vancouver for the CPKC Women's Open in August and what playing in her home country means to her.

VANCOUVER — Canadian Pacific Kansas City has extended its sponsorship of the LPGA Tour’s Canadian Women’s Open.

The new agreement keeps CPKC as the title sponsor for the 2025 and 2026 tournaments with an option for 2027 and 2028.

The railway company has been the title sponsor of Canada’s women’s golf championship since 2013.

Golf Canada said Monday in a statement that, as a result of the sponsorship extension, the purse for the Canadian Women’s Open will increase to US$2.5 million, starting with this year’s event Aug. 22-27 at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver.

The purse at the 2022 Canadian Women’s Open in Ottawa was $2.35 million.

World No. 1 Jin Young Ko, up-and-comer Rose Zhang and Canadian star Brooke Henderson are among the golfers who have made early commitments to tee off at Shaughnessy next month.

Henderson, from Smiths Falls, Ont., won the event in 2018 at Wascana Country Club in Regina.
