As Tiger Woods was busy Wednesday at Doral preparing for the Cadillac Championship, his former swing coach Hank Haney was busy on Twitter lashing out at his successor, Canadian Sean Foley in the latest edition of their long-running public feud.
In an interview that appeared on golf.com Wednesday, Foley refused to apologize for earlier critical comments he had directed towards Haney.
Haney responded on his Twitter account with: “If you want to be entertained go to Golf.com and read Sean Foley’s latest version of ripping Hank Haney. All I can say is ‘wow’.”
Haney also retweeted several supportive comments from followers including, “Sean Foley = clueless”, adding: “He is sure he has the answers and no one else does.”
TV note: Foley taped a wide-ranging interview in the Sportsnet Connected studios. The full interview is scheduled to run during Masters week in April.
In another interview with golfcanada.ca earlier this week, Foley took aim at other critics such as Lee Trevino and Brandel Chamblee of Golf Channel.
“They don’t have a clue,” he said. “They say, ‘How does Tiger Woods struggle when he’s in the hunt? Look at what he did for so long?’ New days. New times. You’re probably an invalid if you don’t think what he went through hasn’t affected his belief system.
“Brandel Chamblee made 180 out of 398 cuts on the PGA Tour (in his playing days). Like, when did this become so easy for him? That’s like 43 per cent. You’re talking about a guy (Woods) who’s missed six cuts in his life. It’s just sensational. That’s what they do.”
