Bud Holloway dives to keep the puck out of his net Saturday against the Binghamton Senators.

St. John’s IceCaps forward Bud Holloway made perhaps the save of the year Saturday, when he dove towards his own net, Superman-style, to thwart an empty-net chance for Binghamton Senators forward Cole Schneider.

While his efforts may have been for naught (the Senators were up 3-1 at the time, and would eventually score an empty netter to make it a 4-1 final anyway), this was still a pretty terrific play by Holloway who’s only played in one NHL game this season for the Canadiens – a team that could perhaps use his heroic puck-stopping abilities.

Holloway actually leads St. John’s with 44 points. His 15 goals this year has him second on the team to Charles Hudon.
