McKenna stops 32, Pirates shut out IceCaps 3-0

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — Mike McKenna stopped all 32 shots his way as the Portland Pirates blanked the host St. John’s IceCaps 3-0 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Justin Hodgman opened the scoring for the Pirates (22-16-2) on the power play at 17:12 of the first period.

Eric Selleck made it 2-0 at 17:41 of the third period and Alexandre Bolduc tacked on an empty-net goal just over a minute later.

Jason Jaffray led all IceCaps (16-19-6) skaters with five shots on McKenna. Connor Hellebuyck kicked out 35-of-37 shots in defeat.

The Pirates went 1 for 7 on the power play while St. John’s failed to score on three chances with the man advantage
