Nela Lopusanova added another chapter to her incredible performance at the women's world under-18 hockey championship on Thursday in Sweden.
The 14-year-old Slovak star beat goaltender Felicia Frank with "The Michigan" to tie her team's quarterfinal against host Sweden at 1-1.
Lopusanova got the puck on her backhand and put it over Frank's shoulder for the highlight-reel goal. She is the first woman to score a lacrosse-style goal in an IIHF tournament.
"It was an amazing goal. She's an amazing talent," Slovakia captain Zuzana Dobiasova told the IIHF website.
Lopusanova led all scorers in the tournament heading into the game with six goals and three assists in three games, including a hat trick against Switzerland.
"I'm amazed," Lopusanova told the IIHF through a translator after the win against Switzerland. "I'm glad I could help out the team as much as I could. I can't really explain it in words. I'm just very happy."
Slovakia ended up losing 6-1 to Sweden.
