Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Matthew Knies, Montreal Canadiens' draft pick Lane Hutson and highly rated 2023 NHL draftee Adam Fantilli were among the nominees for the Hobey Baker award announced Wednesday.
Other nominees for the Hobey Baker, given to this season's outstanding men's U.S. college hockey player, were Logan Cooley, Sean Farrell, Collin Graf, Devon Levi, Yaniv Perets, Blake Pietila and Jason Pollin.
Knies, a native of Phoenix, had 21 goals and 19 assists for 40 points in 35 games for the University of Minnesota this season. He was the Maple Leafs' second-round pick, 57th overall, in 2021.
Hutson, a native of Holland, Mich., had six goals and 26 assists for 32 points in 34 games with Boston University this season. He was the Canadiens' second-round pick, 62nd overall, in 2022.
Fantilli, a native of Nobleton, Ont., had a breakout rookie season with the University of Michigan, with 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points in 21 games this season. He also won a gold medal with Canada at the most recent World Juniors.
