Logan Thompson is making his case for the backup goalie's job in Las Vegas next season.

Thompson, who is playing for Canada at the World Hockey Championship in Finland, made a stunning, two-handed, diving save against Slovakia on Monday. The stop was one of several the 25-year-old needed to make as the Slovakians buzzed the Canadian end during the second period.

Thompson wound up making 24 saves as Canada went on to win 5-1.

Thompson wound up filling the starter's job in Vegas this season as the Vegas Golden Knights dealt with injuries in net. The Calgary native wound up playing in 19 games, posting a 268 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage, both of which were better than veteran Robin Lehner and backup Laurent Brossoit.
