SASKATOON — Canadian defenceman Calvin de Haan will miss Tuesday’s game against Slovakia at the world junior hockey championship.

De Haan left Monday’s 6-0 win over Switzerland after he was hit from behind by forward Mauro Jorg.

Canadian head coach Willie Desjardins wouldn’t reveal the nature or severity of de Haan’s injury at Tuesday’s practice.

"He won’t go today for sure," Desjardins said. "We’ll just keep evaluating him and see when he’s ready to come back."

Desjardins did say he doesn’t expect de Haan will be lost for the entire tournament.

De Haan did not speak to the media Tuesday.
