SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Goaltender Brandon Halverson kept the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds alive for the last 20 minutes of their game Wednesday.
Halverson stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced in the third period to help Sault Ste. Marie to a 3-2 victory over the Plymouth Whalers in Ontario Hockey League action.
Gabe Guertler’s goal in the second period gave the Greyhounds (11-5-0) a 3-1 lead after Keigan Goetz and Michael Bunting scored in the first.
Mathew Campagna pulled Plymouth (6-9-1) to within one in the third period, but Halverson held it together for the win. He finished with a total of 35 stops.

Danny Vanderwiel also scored for the Whalers, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves.
Neither team scored on the power play, with Sault Ste. Marie going 0 for 4 and Plymouth going 0 for 5.
The Whalers have lost four in a row.

BULLS 5 STEELHEADS 1
BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Stephen Harper’s second-period goal stood up as the winner in the Bulls victory over Mississauga.
Jordan Subban scored his ninth goal of the season for Belleville (11-4-1), while Michael Cramarossa, Niki Petti and Matt Luff chipped in as well.
Stefan LeBlanc had the only goal for the Steelheads (6-7-1).
