IceDogs, OHL announce weekend games will be postponed as team recovers

Niagara IceDogs GM Joey Burke updates us on goalie Tucker Tynan’s health and condition, after such a scary injury that shook up the entire hockey world, says he’s stable, resting and in good spirits.

The Niagara IceDogs announced that the team’s upcoming games Saturday and Sunday have been postponed as the club recovers from what transpired during their game Thursday.

During Thursday’s game, goaltender Tucker Tynan suffered a severe cut on his right leg after being cut by a skate during a collision with an opposing player. Tynan was taken off the ice on a stretcher and it was announced soon after that the game would not go on.

Tynan has since undergone a successful surgery and is in stable condition, the team announced late Thursday. The 17-year-old Chicago, Ill., native is expected to make a full recovery.

On Friday, the club announced the weekend’s games would be postponed “as the team continues to recover from the unfortunate events in Thursday night’s game.”

Niagara’s games with Peterborough and Ottawa originally set for Saturday and Sunday will be rescheduled at a later date, according to the IceDogs.
