“Don’t sleep on Red Deer.” That’s what Jeff Marek had to say about the CHL’s ninth-ranked team.

Marek joined Brady and Walker on Sportsnet 590 THE FAN and told the guys that Red Deer would “completely mortgage the future” to make sure they don’t repeat what the Saskatoon Blades did the last time the Memorial Cup was hosted out west in 2013. The Blades loaded up, but were swept in the first round of the WHL playoffs and finished last as Cup hosts.

Listen now to find out what Marek had to say about the OHL powers as well.

Marek also said Jake DeBrusk could end up in Red Deer via trade and that the Rebels have already been in contact with Swift Current about acquiring the sniper, who went 14th overall to the Boston Bruins last June.
