McNabb receives suspension for hit on Hishon

Mississauga, ON – Brayden McNabb of the Kootenay Ice has been suspended for one-game for receiving a major and game misconduct for elbowing Joey Hishon of Owen Sound Attack.

McNabb will serve his suspension tonight when Kootenay plays Mississauga.

"Following review of the referee’s report, and watching all of the television footage of the incident, I determined that it was a reckless action by the player but not a deliberate attempt to injure," Brian O’Neill discipline chairman for the MasterCard Memorial Cup, said.

This is the first suspension in a MasterCard Memorial Cup since the 1999 event in Ottawa, ON.
