OHL: Coyle, Wells guide Petes past Spirit

SAGINAW, Mich. – Josh Coyle had three points and Dylan Wells made 46 saves to help the Peterborough Petes rout the Saginaw Spirit 7-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Coyle scored twice in a four-goal second period for the Petes (4-3-0). Hunter Garlent had a goal and two assists while Steven Lorentz and Adam Timleck each chipped in with a goal and assist apiece. Adam McPhail and Matt Spencer rounded out the attack.

Artem Artemov and Dylan Sadowy supplied the offence for Saginaw (2-3-1). David Ovsjannikov turned away 24-of-31 shots in net.

Peterborough went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Spirit were scoreless on six chances.

OTTERS 4 SPITFIRES 3

ERIE, Pa. — Taylor Raddysh struck twice as the Otters held on to beat Windsor.

Shaun Bily and Jordan Sambrook added the others for Erie (6-0-0).

Daniel Beaudoin, Bradley Latour and Cristiano DiGiacinto found the back of the net for the Spitfires (5-1-1).

Windsor’s Luke Kirwan was assessed a match penalty for cross checking at 8:03 of the third period.

BATTALION 3 GREYHOUNDS 1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Cam Dineen had the eventual winner in the second period as North Bay got past the Greyhounds.

Max Kislinger opened the scoring for the Battalion (2-3-0) in the second period while Zach Bratina added an empty-netter.

Tim Gettinger scored for Sault Ste. Marie (4-2-2) in the third period.

Greyhounds forward Bobby MacIntyre was ejected at 14:35 of the second period after receiving a major penalty for checking from behind.

BARRIE, Ont. — Leo Lazarev stopped all 35 shots he faced as Ottawa won its third straight by shutting out the Colts.

Stepan Falkovsky scored late in the first period for the 67’s (3-3-0), with Nathan Todd, Dante Salituro and Sam Studnicka rounding out the attack.

Mackenzie Blackwood turned away 29 shots for Barrie (4-3-0).

FIREBIRDS 3 STING 2 (OT)

FLINT, Mich. — Will Bitten completed his hat trick with a penalty-shot goal in overtime as the Firebirds edged Sarnia.

Bitten opened the scoring on the power play in the first period before giving Flint (4-2-1) a brief lead in the second.

Pavel Zacha and Daniel Nikandrov chipped in for the Sting (4-2-1).

ATTACK 2 KNIGHTS 1

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Santino Centorame scored the winner in the third period as the Attack slipped past London.

Petrus Palmu had a power-play goal for Owen Sound (4-1-1) in the first period.

Victor Mete supplied the lone goal for the Knights (3-1-2).

London’s Max Jones received a match penalty for slew footing at 8:51 of the second period.
