OHL bans Sting defenceman Chapman 12 games

TORONTO — The Ontario Hockey League has suspended Sarnia Sting defenceman Joshua Chapman for 12 games for a head infraction on Ottawa winger Ben Fanjoy.

The incident occurred late in the third period of Ottawa’s 5-0 home win over Sarnia on Friday, when Chapman elbowed Fanjoy’s head behind the Sarnia goal. Fanjoy was injured on the play.

Fanjoy is a repeat offender. His suspension is retroactive to the conclusion of Friday’s game.

He is eligible to return Feb. 27, when the Sting host Plymouth.
