WHL: Estephan hat trick leads Broncos over Hurricanes in Game 2

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Giorgio Estephan capped a hat trick 9:41 into overtime as the Swift Current Broncos beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 on Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Hockey League conference final.

Estephan scored his first of the game 3:58 into the first period on a power play and added his second less than a minute later as the Broncos raced out to a 2-0 lead before Lethbridge responded with three straight goals. Aleksi Heponiemi tied the game on a power play midway through the third.

Dylan Cozens scored on a penalty shot for the Hurricanes and Jordy Bellerive and Jadon Joseph had the other goals.

Swift Current goaltender Stuart Skinner made 36 saves. Lethbridge’s Logan Flodell stopped 29 shots.

The Broncos won the first game 3-2 Friday night. The Hurricanes host Game 3 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday.

AMERICANS 5 SILVERTIPS 3

EVERETT, Wash. — Parker Aucoin scored two goals and set up another as Tri-City beat the Silvertips in Game 2 to even their conference final at 1-1.

Jordan Topping, Maxwell James and Michael Rasmussen, into an empty net, also scored for the Americans, who dropped the first game of the series 3-2 on Friday night.

Matt Fonteyne, Patrick Bajkov and Garrett Pilon supplied the offence for Everett.

Tri-City will host Game 3 on Monday.
