WHL Roundup: Trent Miner perfect in net as Giants blank Royals

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trent Miner stopped all 18 shots he faced as the Vancouver Giants blanked the Victoria Royals 3-0 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Trevor Longo, Bowen Byram and Milos Roman supplied the offence for Vancouver (31-21-5).

Adam Evanoff made 32 saves for Victoria (30-22-7).

Neither team scored on the power play. The Giants were 0 for 2 and the Royals were 0 for 1.

SILVERTIPS 4 ROCKETS 3 (OT)

KELOWNA, B.C. — Bryce Kindopp scored on the power play 49 seconds into overtime as Everett edged the Rockets.

Gage Goncalves, Justyn Gurney and Michal Gut had goals in regulation time for the Silvertips (42-12-4).

Elias Carmichael, Mark Liwiski and Conner McDonald scored for Kelowna (27-26-6).

HURRICANES 5 OIL KINGS 4 (SO)

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Brett Davis scored twice and again in the shootout as the Hurricanes topped Edmonton.

Dylan Cozens and Zack Stringer scored for Lethbridge (36-15-7).

Wyatt McLeod, Ethan McIndoe, Jake Neighbours and Vladimir Alistrov did the scoring for the Oil Kings (40-10-10).

TIGERS 8 PATS 2

REGINA — Brett Kemp scored four times as Medicine Hat routed the Pats.

Cole Sillinger, Parker Gavlas, Lukas Svejkovsky and Baxter Anderson rounded out the attack for the Tigers (36-19-3).

Zack Smith and Logan Nijhoff scored for Regina (20-32-6).

WARRIORS 6 BRONCOS 2

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Cade Hayes and Tate Popple had two goals apiece as the Warriors dispatched Swift Current.

Martin Lang and Ryder Korczak also scored for Moose Jaw (13-39-4).

Kaleb Bulych and Cole Nagy replied for the Broncos (10-44-4).

BLADES 4 RAIDERS 2

SASKATOON — Tristen Robins scored twice, including the power-play winner in the third period, as the Blades doubled Prince Albert.

Zach Huber and Kyle Crnkovic had the other goals for Saskatoon (31-22-5).

Ozzy Wiesblatt and Nolan Allan scored for the Raiders (32-17-9).

WHEAT KINGS 3 HITMEN 2

CALGARY — Cole Reinhardt had a pair of goals, including the eventual winner, as Brandon held on for a win over the Hitmen.

Ridly Greig also scored for the Wheat Kings (33-21-6).

Mark Kastelic and Riley Stotts found the back of the net for Calgary (34-20-5).

REBELS 2 ICE 1

RED DEER, Alta. — Ben King put away the winner with 2:17 left to play as the Rebels eked out a win over Winnipeg.

Josh Tarzwell also scored for Red Deer (22-31-5).

Jakin Smallwood was the lone scorer for the Ice (34-23-1).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Orrin Centazzo scored twice as Kamloops defeated the Cougars.

Matthew Seminoff, Logan Stankoven, Connor Zary and Montana Onyebuchi also scored for the Blazers (36-17-4).

Josh Maser provided the offence for Prince George (17-33-8).

SPOKANE, Wash. — Ty Smith had a hat trick as the Chiefs thumped Seattle.

Luke Toporowski scored twice for Spokane (36-18-5), while Eli Zummack, Leif Mattson, Owen MacNeil and Noah King also scored.

Payton Mount and Andrej Kukuca scored for the Thunderbirds (23-29-7).

WINTERHAWKS 3 AMERICANS 1

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Mason Mannek’s short-handed goal at the 10:07 mark of the third period was the winner as Portland downed Tri-City.

Seth Jarvis and Jaydon Dureau also scored for the Winterhawks (41-10-7).

Edge Lambert scored for the Americans (17-36-5).
