8-year-old Flames fan writes letter to Mike Smith

Watch as one little Calgary Flames fan isn’t too happy when their new puck is taken away.

The struggling Calgary Flames could sure use their starting goaltender.

The Flames have gone 3-6-1 since Mike Smith went down with a lower-body injury and are three points behind the Colorado Avalanche for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Eight-year-old Rylee Lyseng wrote Smith a letter as a result, pointing out that the Flames “have not been winning much since you have been hurt.”

She also asks if Smith knows when he’ll be able to return, before shamelessly asking for tickets to an upcoming game against the Edmonton Oilers, whom she “hates.” (Shoot your shot, right?)

The letter was shared on social media by Lyseng’s aunt.

Smith has been sharp in his first season in Calgary, posting a 23-16-6 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 47 starts.

The team is in Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Monday.
