Andrei Vasilevskiy named as Tuukka Rask’s replacement for All-Star Game

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has been selected for the upcoming NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis.

Vasilevskiy replaces Boston’s Tuukka Rask and joins the Toronto Maple LeafsFrederik Andersen as the goalies for the Atlantic Division.

The Lightning netminder is currently tied for the league lead in wins this season with 22, including his last eight consecutive starts. He has a goals-against-average of 2.58 and save percentage of .915. Tampa currently sits second in the Atlantic Division — seven points behind the Bruins.

The announcement marks Vasilevskiy’s third consecutive year being named to the All-Star Game, although he was unable to participate in 2019.

The All-Star Weekend takes place on Jan. 24 and 25.
