The Boston Bruins have traded the rights to centre Carl Soderberg to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2016 sixth round pick, per an official Bruins release.
Soderberg, 29, earned $1,008,333 against the salary cap last season in the final year of a three-year deal with the Bruins. He will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Soderberg scored 13 goals and 44 points in 82 games in 2014-15.

The 2016 sixth round pick is Boston’s natural selection, as it originally belonged to the Bruins and was part of the March 2, 2015 trade between Colorado and Boston that brought Max Talbot and Paul Carey to the B’s in exchange for Jordan Caron.
The Avalanche will have an exclusive window to try and secure a deal with Soderberg before he hits the open market.
