DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche claimed forward Chris Wagner off waivers from Anaheim.

To make room on the roster, Colorado placed goaltender Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve with a groin injury. The move is retroactive to Nov. 10.

Wagner didn’t score in 11 games for the Anaheim Ducks this season. He was second on the team in hits and fourth in penalty minutes.

The 24-year-old Wagner was picked in the fifth round by Anaheim in 2010.
