Bettman: World Cup of Hockey not happening in February 2021

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman gives any updates from the BOG meetings with respect to International tournaments, says World Cup is in play for coming years, but won't replace the All-Star Game in 2021.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says there won’t be a World Cup of Hockey in February 2021 and the league will hold an all-star game in its place.

In August, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston that the NHL and NHLPA were considering holding a World Cup of Hockey tournament in 2021 if the two sides could agree to keep the collective bargaining agreement in place until September 2022. In September, both sides did agree to extend the current CBA.

There hasn’t been a World Cup of Hockey since September 2016, when Canada defeated Team Europe in a best-of-three final.
