The Columbus Blue Jackets have suspended forward Gregory Campbell after the veteran did not report to the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL after being assigned.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have suspended forward Gregory Campbell after the veteran did not report to the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL when assigned.

Campbell, 32, played 82 games for Columbus last season but failed to make the final roster for 2016-17.

Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen attempted to trade Campbell prior to the season but a deal could not be reached.

The London, Ontario native has played 803 career NHL games, recording 187 points and 696 penalty minutes.
