The Columbus Blue Jackets have suspended forward Gregory Campbell after the veteran did not report to the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL when assigned.
Campbell, 32, played 82 games for Columbus last season but failed to make the final roster for 2016-17.
Kekalainen on Campbell: "He's a great guy and he's had a great career. But we only have a 23-man roster, and he didn't make our team."

Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen attempted to trade Campbell prior to the season but a deal could not be reached.
