Blues ink Tarasenko to 8-year, $60M contract

Watch as St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko goes forehand then backhand to beat Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford.

The St. Louis Blues and Vladimir Tarasenko have agreed to terms on an eight-year deal worth $60 million, the team announced Tuesday.

The 23-year-old became a restricted free agent after enjoying a breakout season in 2014-15, registering 37 goals and 36 assists in 77 games. His 73 points were enough to rank him in a tie for 10th overall in the league’s scoring leaders.

Tarasenko also notched a hat trick in Game 2 of the Blues’ first-round playoff matchup versus the Minnesota Wild, becoming the 13th player in franchise history to do so.

The Russian forward was drafted in the first round (16th overall) in 2010 and has played 179 games for the club over three seasons.
