Brad Marchand, Canadiens exchange Twitter jabs over licking

Brad Marchand is back to his usual antics after he licks Ryan Callahan after a scrum in Game 4 between the Bruins and Lightning.

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand had his fun on the ice, and now he’s taking shots off of it.

The winger’s season ended on Sunday with Boston’s Game 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, but the 29-year-old – whose tongue dominated headlines throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs – couldn’t help but give his biggest rivals one last online licking.

First, he logged onto Twitter to deliver a seemingly innocuous message to his fans, and those who wish he’d keep his mouth to himself.

Cute, and harmless, enough.

He then noticed a tweet sent from the Montreal Canadiens official account, one that took the opportunity to poke (rather loose) fun at all the trouble Marchand got himself into over the past week or so, while giving him some advice before he embarks on his off-season activities.

Finally, the response:

While Marchand’s clapback is more or less the Twitter equivalent of pointing “scoreboard,” we’ll give him props for at least having some fun a day after having his dreams of a second Stanley Cup dashed.

Let’s hope he never changes.
