Bruins lose newly acquired Connolly to injury

The Boston Bruins scored four unanswered goals and Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots in his return as the Bruins easily defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 on Saturday.

Call them the big, bad-luck Bruins.

Battling for a playoff berth, Boston has lost its newly acquired forward, Brett Connolly, for six weeks due to a displaced fracture in his right index finger.

The injury occurred Wednesday during the Bruins’ practice when Connolly took a Dennis Seidenberg shot off his right hand.

Connolly, 22, had yet to make his Bruins debut after being traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning for second-round picks in 2015 and 2016.

In 49 games played with the Lightning this season, Connolly has 12 goals and three assists for 15 points.

Connolly comes with an $850,000 cap hit and is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

If healthy by six weeks, and the Bruins hold onto a wild-card spot, he could return just in time for the playoffs.
