Bruins’ Jeremy Lauzon suspended two games for hit on Coyotes’ Derek Stepan

Jeremy Lauzon would be given a match penalty for this hit to the head on Derek Stepan.

Boston Bruins defenceman Jeremy Lauzon has been suspended two games for an illegal check to the head on Arizona Coyotes centre Derek Stepan during their matchup Saturday, the NHL’s department of player safety announced.

The incident occurred late in the first period of the Bruins’ 4-2 win when Lauzon caught Stepan with a high hit against the boards after the Coyotes veteran delivered a pass. Stepan was shaken up on the play but did return during the second period.

Lauzon was assessed a five-minute major and match penalty after a review determined that the 22-year-old caught Stepan with a check to the head.

In seven games this season, Lauzon has one goal.
