Bruins unveil old-school Winter Classic jerseys

Gary Bettman and Robert Kraft discuss the news that the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will feature one of the best rivalries in the history of sports, Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens on New Year's Day.

There will be a special feeling in the air when Original Six rivals Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens meet in the 2016 Winter Classic on New Year’s Day at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

As usual, the game will also have a special look and the Bruins unveiled the throwback uniforms they’ll wear during the game.

“It’s very beautiful — honestly, it’s very simple, but right to the point,” captain Zdeno Chara told the Bruins’ website. “Like Cam [Neely] said [when introducing the jersey], this is based on the very first jersey from 1924 — obviously the colours are the current colours but the crest is basically what it was right from the first time the Bruins started playing, so it’s so much history and so much pride and passion in that jersey, that makes it very special to wear it.”

The Canadiens have yet to reveal what they will be wearing, but in the meantime here are some photos of the Bruins’ vintage look.
