Byron Froese joins Flames on one-year, two-way contract

Byron Froese has joined the Calgary Flames on a one-year, two-way contract worth $700,000, the team announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old forward spent the 2018-19 season in the American Hockey League, splitting time with the Laval Rocket and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 70 AHL games last season, Froese recorded 21 goals and 23 assists.

Froese has appeared in 110 career NHL games, putting up a total of five goals and 11 assists while spending time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.

The Winkler, Manitoba native was a fourth-round pick (119th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2009 NHL Draft.
