The Montreal Canadiens assigned defenceman Karl Alzner to the AHL’s Laval Rocket following Tuesday’s win over the Florida Panthers.

Alzner was a scratch for Montreal’s 5-1 victory over Florida. He is expected to return to the Canadiens Thursday and travel with the team to Columbus.

In nine games this season, the 30-year-old has one assist and two penalty minutes.
