The Montreal Canadiens will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak against San Jose when they host the Sharks on Thursday as -125 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Montreal returns home after closing out a short two-game road trip with a 4-3 loss in Minnesota as a +105 wager on Sunday, but has earned the win in two of three home outings going into Thursday night’s game at the Bell Centre.

The Canadiens last earned a win over San Jose back in March 2015, a 2-0 victory as -150 home chalk, but have struggled against the Sharks ever since, posting regulation losses in eight straight meetings including four straight home losses. The Montreal offense has struggled badly during the club’s Sharks swoon, averaging just 1.5 goals per game. The Canadiens have also potted just seven goals in six home dates with San Jose since 2010.

The Sharks arrive in Montreal as +105 underdogs after dropping both halves of a home-and-home series with the Buffalo Sabres, capped by a 4-3 road loss as a -105 wager on Tuesday night. Overall, San Jose has tallied just one win in five road outings this season, and has seen its Stanley Cup odds dip to +2500 after opening the campaign at +1800.

Elsewhere on the Thursday NHL odds at betting sites, the Calgary Flames wrap up a two-game homestand against the visiting Florida Panthers as -130 favourites, while the Edmonton Oilers try to halt their first two-game slide of the season as they battle the Washington Capitals as +100 home underdogs.

The Flames continued the uneven play that has marked the first month of their schedule on Tuesday night with a 5-3 loss to Washington as -120 home favourites. Calgary has now recorded consecutive wins just once while compiling a middling 5-5-1 record this season, and has also dropped two of their last three to the Panthers.

Florida is coming off a 4-2 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins as -135 chalk on Tuesday night, marking the first time this season that the club has posted consecutive victories. The Panthers have also won two straight on the road, but have claimed victory in just two of their last eight road meetings with Pacific Division opponents.

The Oilers return home after getting shut out on both dates of a two-game road trip, capped by a 3-0 loss in Minnesota as a +105 wager on Tuesday. Edmonton has now mustered just nine total goals over its past five outings, but remains undefeated in four home dates this season while averaging 4.25 goals per game.
