Canadiens’ Jake Evans released from hospital, in concussion protocol

Jake Evans would need to be stretchered off the ice during the Rookie Showdown between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators after taking a hit.

Montreal Canadiens prospect Jake Evans was released from the hospital Friday night and is back with the team, following its concussion protocol.

Evans played in the Canadiens’ Rookie Showdown game Friday, but was stretchered off the ice in the third period after taking a scary hit from Ottawa Senators defenceman Jonathan Aspirot.

He was taken to a hospital for “further evaluation,” but was conscious.

The 22-year-old Evans was taken in the seventh round, 207th overall, of the 2014 draft. He scored 13 goals and 46 points with Notre Dame last season.
