The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Nikita Scherbak has been recalled from Laval following a conditioning stint dating back to Oct. 31, but he will remain in Montreal to treat a lower-body injury.
As a result Scherbak, 22, will not travel with the team for the remainder of their Western Canada road-swing, which ends Saturday in Vancouver.
The 2014 first-round pick missed the last two games of his conditioning stint with a lower-body injury that he suffered on Nov. 9 in a win over the Cleveland Monsters.
The Canadiens were obligated to recall the winger at some point prior to 5 p.m. Eastern Wednesday, according to CapFriendly, after reaching the 14-day conditioning stint limit.
Scherbak has not played a game for the Canadiens this season and was a healthy scratch for 11 straight games prior to his conditioning stint with Laval. He had one goal in five games with the Rocket before his injury.
The Canadiens will look to bounce back against the Calgary Flames tomorrow night after dropping the opener of their road trip Tuesday to the Edmonton Oilers.
