Canadiens’ Shea Weber out 4-6 weeks with left ankle sprain

Tim and Sid try to sort through the ramifications of Shea Weber being out with an injury for 4-6 weeks.

Montreal Canadiens captain Shea Weber will miss the next four to six weeks with a left ankle sprain, the team announced Wednesday.

According to a statement, Weber was re-evaluated by Dr. Robert Anderson – an orthopaedic specialist – in Green Bay, Wisc., Wednesday. Weber is expected to make a full recovery.

Weber, 34, was originally placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury on Feb. 6. The team was initially vague in their diagnosis of the injury because swelling prevented a full evaluation.

In 55 games this season, Weber has 13 goals and 34 points with a plus-eight rating. He also leads the team with over 24 minutes of ice time per game.
