The Vancouver Canucks will be without defenceman Chris Tanev for another three to four weeks, as he recuperates from a fracture in his leg.
Tanev hasn’t played since Feb. 8 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and was originally described as day-to-day by the Canucks.
The 28-year-old has two goals and 11 assists this season, and could become an attractive trade deadline target for any team looking to shore up its back end, should Tanev be healthy enough to contribute to a playoff run.
He’s appeared in just 38 games this season and 53 in 2016-17.
The shutdown defenceman carries a $4.45-million cap hit through the 2019-20 season.
